Units 7 & 8, Patrick Farm Barns
Hampton in Arden, Solihull B92 0LT
Sharing tips, industry news and views from the worlds of design, online marketing, technology, IT and business plus a few posts that definitely come under the heading of “other”. As one reader tweeted “They definitely have the knowledge”.
Why is it easier to find a great web design or IT support company in Hampton in Arden?
Because Real Point Design and Real Point Business Technology have at last got some shiny new signs showing where we are. The "great" bit is what our clients keep telling us, so it must be true!
So next time you're driving from Meriden to Solihull, just before you get to Hampton in Arden, keep an eye out for Patrick Farm Barns. If you've gone over the little bridge you've gone too far. And if you've got a spare five minutes, feel free to pop in for a cuppa!

You may see this error when shutting down the computer or closing Outlook 2003. It has also been linked to problems with the normal running of Outlook 2003, although these are rare.
The problem lies with a bug in Microsoft Office 2003 and is to do with the Speech and Handwriting Recognition feature. Turning this feature off will fix the problem.

We were back at the work life balance awards lunch this year at the Birmingham Botanical gardens, to find out if we had managed to match our win from last year. The competition was hotter with more entrants, so what would happen . . . .
The Birmingham Best Business awards for the development of work life balance are organised by Mariann Harris, Birmingham Early Years. The awards are "a platform to recognise and celebrate businesses that have boosted their performance and created competitive advantage through the implementation of innovative approaches to improving Work-Life Balance and flexible working which enhances both customer and employee outcomes".
We heard from Sue Beardsmore, who shared her personal story of some of her challenges in work life balance while working in the media industry, as well as Councillor Rudge, Birmingham cabinet member for equalities and human resources.
Well, we'd made it to the finalist list but the top spot was not to be this year, that was won by the studio, but we did get a commended for ongoing commitment to work life balance. So I can rest happy in knowing that Real Point is still recognised as a great place to work!
If you're interesting in joining the competition then contact Mariann Harris, Birmingham Early Years, on 0121 303 9838, or by email at mariann.harris@birmingham.gov.uk.

The Real Point Blog is a chance for, me, Ian O'Donnell, director of Real Point Design, to share my views, thoughts and comments on the world of web and print design, business and a bit of the world in general.
I started Real Point at eighteen and have been working in print and web design in the west midlands ever since, growing Real Point to the company it is today. I'm evangelistic about everything web releated and have a passion to see everyone make their life just that bit easier, better and more profitable online. Currently I'm fascinated by just where the web going is in the next few years, social media is just starting to have a real impact in the business world and I can't wait to see if it is going to be just as disruptive as the web was to begin with.
If you want to know more about me, keep in touch or find out what others have said I can be found in various places online:
Mostly Business
Mostly Personal
Facebook and Myspace are more places for keeping in touch with friends and family as well members of the Youth Group I help to run. Having said that, my facebook tends to blur the lines between business and personal quite often and does get used as a bit of a business networking tool as well.
